Father's Day

Do you want to know the real reason most dads don't care about celebrating fathers day?

It's because every day is Father's day.

Every time our kids pass a test, try a new food, or just show any general excitement at exploring and expanding their world is a moment that we feel the pride and gratefulness in being a dad.

We don't need parades, we don't need grand shows of affection or to have our egos stroked. We destroy ourselves to ensure that our kids have the tools they need to be happy in life.

That doesn't always mean that we remove every obstacle for them. Part of growing up is making mistakes and learning for themselves how to solve problems, but their ability to do so is dictacted by how well we do as fathers to guide them as they figure things out.

All we need to feel appreciated is for our kids to be happy and to be successful in their lives in whatever form that takes. That's how we know we've done a good job. Although a bottle of our favorite barbecue sauce is always a welcome gift too.
